State fraud investigators say a insurance agent used her customer’s premium payments for personal use. Dana Larson Bowen, 52, of Blackshear, Ga. was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with 28 counts of insurance fraud.
Notice of the arrest came in a news release from the office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.
According to the report, state fraud investigators found that between August 2016 and June 2017 Bowen accepted more than $250,000 in premium payments from her clients to obtain worker’s compensation, general liability and commercial insurance coverage.
Investigators says evidence shows that on multiple occasions, Bowen failed to forward all the premium to the insurance company leaving manyh of her clients without valid coverage.
Victims were in Bacon, Pierce and Ware Counties. Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said his office’s legal division has taken enforcement action to revoke her license.
Bowen owns and operates Management South Agency in Blackshear.
