Takaful - Low Awareness

Image result for low awarenessThe level of public awareness of the importance of having takaful and insurance protection is still low despite various awareness and educational programs carried out.
Takaful Ikhlas Bhd (Takaful Ikhlas ) chief executive officer, Datuk Ab Latiff Abu Bakar said only 15 per cent of the people in this country realized the importance of insurance coverage.
“The issue is the importance of insurance protection, where many people who are not covered by such protection often give the excuse of not being able to pay the monthly premium although the rates are low.
“The public can see that even Bank Negara Malaysia has introduced an insurance scheme called ‘Skim Perlindungan Tenang’ which is affordable for the low and the middle-income groups,” he told reporters after the handing-out of school aid to 184 pupils at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jelutong, here, yesterday.
Nevertheless, he said, Takaful Ikhlas would continue to intensify its awareness campaign and educational program via various channels and platforms of the importance of takaful/insurance protection.
Through the Ikhlas For Community programme, the 184 SK Jelutong Year One to Six pupils from families with a monthly household income of RM3,000 and below were selected to each receive the contribution of a school bag, school uniform, shoes and socks and stationery worth RM250, in conjunction with the Malaysian Unit Trust Week (MSAM) 2018 held in Batu Pahat district.
“This Takaful Ikhlas contribution is one of the ways we can embrace the spirit of mutual help in line with the takaful system based on the concept of cooperation and specific responsibilities to the community. We hope this contribution will ease the burden of the recipient’s family and spur them to excel in their studies and school activites,” Ab Latiff  said.
Takaful Ikhlas also contributed 100 books to the SK Jelutong library.
