There are no religious reasons behind segregating men and women on buses operated by TransMalaya Ekspres. In their buses, women will sit on the right, while men on the left. The company merely prioritises the comfort and safety of their female passengers, whom had complained of sexual harassment.
There have been criticisms against his company, for allegedly requesting for proof of marriage if a couple wants to sit together. The Company denied this, saying that ticketing counter staff had never made such requests from the customers.
A Malay daily as saying that married couples would have to show proof that they were married to the ticketing staff if they wanted to sit together.
