Justice For Loh Boon Thean

Emotional: Boon Thean and his wife Goon can’t get over the loss of their son.An emotional father caused a scene outside a Sessions Court here when he used his walking stick to trip a lawyer representing an 18-year-old Chinese national who had allegedly killed his son.
Loh Boon Thean, 64, a stroke patient, almost caused lawyer R.S.N. Rayer to fall in the incident yesterday before the start of the manslaughter case.
Boon Thean and his wife, Goon Soo Pheng, 65, were in court to attend the mention of the case involving student Pan Wei Zheng who was charged with killing administration officer Loh Eng Chuan, 30, at a flat in Air Itam on Feb 28 last year.
Pan, who has reportedly fled the country, was charged under Section 304 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and a possible fine. When the case was called up, Rayer urged the court to caution Boon Thean as he was only doing his job.

Judge Irwan Suainbon then directed court police and the interpreter to advise Boon Thean to calm down and respect court proceedings. He then gave Pan a discharge not amounting to an acquittal after DPP Lim Saw Sim informed the court that the accused could not be located.
Just doing his job: Rayer urged the court to caution Boon Thean.
Later, as Rayer left the courtroom, Boon Thean was heard hurling profanities at the lawyer. After Rayer left, Boon Thean told reporters that he was “not afraid” of him (Rayer). “I am already so old. And my son is not around anymore too,” he said before bursting into tears.
Boon Thean had also caused a scene during the mention of the case on Nov 19 last year when he got up from his seat at the public gallery to ask Irwan how Pan could flee the country while on bail.
Before the court proceedings started that day, a tearful Boon Thean was heard wailing and had to be calmed down by several policemen and court officials. Goon said yesterday that she and her husband wanted justice for their son.
“My husband could not hold himself back. That’s why he used his tongkat (walking stick) to hook his (Rayer) leg. “My son lost his life for nothing,” said Goon.
