Singh Vs Umno Empty Tin Can

Pic: NSTThe head of Bukit Aman’s commercial crime investigation department (CCID) has described a warning by an Umno division leader, asking him to stop giving statements related to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case, as something coming from an “empty tin can”.
Federal CCID director Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the warning that came from Seputeh Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Razlan Rafii yesterday did not hold water.
Amar said that he did not want to waste time and give any attention to Razlan’s warning.
“At this point in time, the case which is ongoing in court is related to SRC International Sdn Bhd funds and not 1MDB.He (Razlan) can say anything he wants, as long as it does not violate the country’s laws”.
When elaborating, Amar said the police would continue to do their work fairly without taking any sides with any individual.

Yesterday, Mohd Razlan issued a warning to Amar against issuing any statements related to the 1MDB probe to prevent former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak from undergoing a trial by media.
On Wednesday, Najib claimed trial at the Kuala Lumpur High Court to three charges of criminal breach of trust and a fourth charge of abuse of power involving SRC International Sdn Bhd’s funds totalling RM42 million. SRC International was a subsidiary of 1MDB. During proceedings, the court issued an interim media gag order on discussion of the case against Najib.
