Ms Aryani said that Indonesia at present is ranked third in ASEAN in terms of the number of MDRT members. The Philippines leads with 1,556 members, followed by Thailand with 1,541 members, Indonesia with 1,367 members, Vietnam with 1,274 members, Singapore with 1,086 members and Malaysia with 1,041 members.
The current number of 1,367 members in Indonesia represents an increase of 47% over the 928 members in 2016.
Ms Aryani added that currently MDRT members in Indonesia are mostly from life joint ventures. There are only three local insurance companies which have MDRT members, namely, Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero), BNI Life Insurance, and Asuransi Sinar Mas.
MDRT global membership currently stands at 62,000 professionals in life and financial services from 450 companies in 77 countries worldwide.
In the first quarter of 2017, the number of life insurance agents in Indonesia grew by 15% to 566,356. MDRT members account for 3% of the total number of life insurance agents in Indonesia.
