Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) traffic offenders who failed to pay up their compounds before the Sept 1 deadline have been blacklisted. KL Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said this was decided upon by Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.
He said the blacklisting of traffic offenders will be done by the Road Transport Department (RTD).
“For now, we will press ahead with blacklisting the traffic offenders, seeing that DBKL’s offer of settling summonses at discounted rates have failed to encourage offenders to clear their summonses.
“I will discuss this with him (Khalid) to find the best solution to this issue,” he said.
It was earlier reported that DBKL had managed to collect around RM2 million from traffic offenders after offering a 70 per cent discount on summonses since Sept 1.
This, however, was a long way off from its collection target of RM100 million.
Based on DBKL records, around four million traffic summonses were issued up to August this year involving almost RM1 billion.
