Whipping For Employer That Hire Illegal Immigrants

Image result for whipping prisoners in malaysiaThe Immigration Department urged for whipping to be given to stubborn employers who hired illegal immigrants.
Immigration Department’s Director General Dato’ Seri Mustafar Ali said a meeting with the Chief Justice of Malaysia regarding the matter to push for whipping sentence imposed on accused who are employers.
He said during a press conference at the State Immigration’s Setia Bersama gathering at Auditorium hall, Kompleks Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan Sabah (KPKPS) here, although the sentence is at the discretion of judge, such whipping punishment not only served as a lesson but to show the deterrent effect of committing the offence.
Currently, there is only one case which the employer was sentenced to whipping said Mustafar and adding that he hoped more employers to be given whipping sentence especially the stubborn or repeat offenders.
According to Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, a person who employed more than five illegal immigrants is liable to a jail term of not less than six months but not more than five years and shall also liable to whipping of not more than six strokes, upon conviction.
