Who Is Noor Azmi Ghazali

Dr-Noor-Azmi-Bagan-Serai

Noor Azmi Ghazali (BN-Bagan Serai) described the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) as a “beauty queen with rashes” in the Dewan Rakyat today. He said WSJ could not be trusted as it preferred to sensationalise its stories just to get a better readership.

He said this in relation to WSJ’s reports on the debt-ridden state investment arm 1MDB and on the controversial RM2.6 billion political donation channelled into Prime Minister Najib Razak’s personal accounts.

WSJ is a business news agency; they only do sensational stories. Do we trust them or Fitch Ratings?

WSJ is a beauty queen. A beauty queen who is beautiful, dressed up prettily but once you look under her clothes, you will see rashes,” he said when debating the King’s opening address.

In July last year, Fitch Ratings said Malaysia’s fiscal finances had improved and viewed progress on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and fuel subsidy reform as supportive of fiscal reforms.

While Noor Ghazali was criticising WSJ, Hanipa Maidin (Amanah-Sepang) intervened and told the former to not compare WSJ with a pro-government local daily, Utusan Malaysia. “Why don’t you just sue WSJ if their reports were wrong?” Hanipa asked.
