A mechanic, who was charged with causing the death of a woman after a quarrel over garbage disposal, has been told by a Sessions Court here to enter his defence.
Sessions judge Ibrahim Osman said the prosecution had success-fully proven a prima facie case against Chow Teik Leong, 53, who was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Chow had claimed trial in 2014 when he was charged with causing the death of 47-year-old Lee Seoh Pheng by knocking her down in a lane near the Taman Desa Intan flats at 12.40am on Nov 21, 2014.
The offence under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 30 years and a possible fine.
It was reported that Chow allegedly flew into a rage after Lee and her husband Yeoh Beng Kooi, 56, a night market trader, told him not to throw two bags of rubbish near their apartment.
After the confrontation, he allegedly tried to run down the couple. It was reported that Lee fell to the ground and was run over. Her body was dragged for a few metres and she was pronounced dead at 1.17am on the same day at the Penang Hospital.
