A Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court has rejected a remand application for DBI Properties managing director Nuruliman A Rahman over an alleged housing scam. Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azhar rejected today the four-day remand application against Nuruliman, better known as Boy Iman.
Boy Iman’s lawyer, Faizul Mohd Nasir, said his client had been brought all over the country to be remanded and today he had been brought to Bukit Mertajam after a police report was lodged in Penang.
The remand applications for three other directors of the company, who had been previously remanded over fraud allegations involving millions of ringgit, were also rejected.
It is believed that all the suspects will be released at the central Seberang Prai district police headquarters in Bandar Perda today. Boy Iman is one of three suspects detained over a housing scam which saw victims of the scheme losing some RM6.2 million.
Police said the suspects were under investigation involving house sales by DBI Properties and Syarikat Juta Kelulut Global Resources, adding that a total of 210 police reports had been lodged nationwide. It was reported that the scam involved houses offered at below-market price to buyers, such as a bungalow measuring 1,650 sq ft being offered for RM60,000. However, the construction allegedly did not take place after the payment was made.
