During his speech at the Galang Kemajuan (GK) Center National Convention on Saturday, April 7, 2018, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stated a leader must not be pessimistic.
"A leader should [spread] optimism among its people," Jokowi said vigorously while holding up his hand at the event in Bogor, Saturday, April 7, 2018.
Furthermore, Jokowi added that a leader should give positive spirit to its people "even when challenges are hard, challenges are not easy."
Jokowi said that Indonesians must endure, work hard, and never stop trying. "Not instead saying pessimistically that in 2030 [Indonesia] will disband," Jokowi said.
The '2030 Indonesia will disband' remark was made by Jokowi's former competitor in the 2014 presidential election, Prabowo Subianto. Prabowo, who is also the Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party, was said to return as Jokowi's opponent in the 2019 presidential election.
