Thai AirAsiaThe chief executives of AirAsia Group and Thai AirAsia plan to visit Songkhla tomorrow to apologise to a flight attendant over an incident where she was forced to prostrate herself following a complaint from a passenger.
The incident was believed to have happened on a recent Phuket-Bangkok flight.
A passenger had complained to the airline that the attendant had dishonoured her by asking what she could do to help her daughter purportedly with a disability, Bangkok Post reported.
It is not clear why the mother became upset about the attendant pointing out the disability.
Following the complaint, the airline management had a meeting with the mother and the flight attendant, who prostrated before the passenger in apology, Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia, said.
Tassapon said he and Tony Fernandes, chief executive of AirAsia Group, would “be meeting with the staff member and the staff member’s family to extend our genuine apologies”.
“We acknowledge and appreciate our staff member’s feelings towards what has happened.”
The newspaper said Fernandes met Thai AirAsia staff in Bangkok today.
He wrote in his Instagram account: “I met cabin crew and was good.
“Tomorrow, I go to Hat Yai to meet her parents. My fault. I’m the leader. We need better procedures on both sides.”
Tassapon attributed the incident to poor communication between the airline and the passenger, Bangkok Post said.
