A new money game scheme has caused losses of some RM1.9mil to at least 61 investors in Sandakan.
Sandakan MP Stephen Wong Tien Fatt (pic) said he was alerted about the scheme in his area after victims lodged complaints with him recently.
“I was told that the Saham Plus 500 scheme was set up by a 29-year-old man at Sibuga Industrial Centre, Jalan Lintas Labuk in Sandakan.
“They promised to double the return on investments,” he said. He said investors never saw any returns. The 29-year-old has disappeared without a trace,” Wong said. “We believe he may have fled the country,” he said, adding that at least 300 people, including those from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, were believed to have invested over RM7mil in the scheme. “We spoke to Comm Amar Singh who assured us that his men were on the case. He told us not to worry and that he would handle it. We hope police will bring the culprits to justice,” he said.
