A political secretary and three police officers were arrested for allegedly robbing an insurance agent earlier this month. The 34-year-old political secretary, who was said to be working for an unnamed politician, was picked up on November 19, had his remand extended until next Monday to help with the investigation.
His alleged accomplice, a 30-year-old policeman serving at the Gombak police district headquarters, will also be held for longer until Sunday (November 26). Also arrested were two more policemen from the Dang Wangi police district headquarters, who have been remanded for four days starting Wednesday.
The four were believed to have robbed a 51-year-old insurance agent on November 12. The Star reported that three of the men entered the agent's office claiming to be policemen who received complaints about him and were conducting an investigation.
The agent was ordered to show his MyKad and cash for examination and was instructed to follow them to the police station. As the agent went back to the office to take his bag, the three men escaped along with the cash believed to amount to RM4,000.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
