A case of land in Jinjang probably sold at below market value to two Umno-linked companies should be investigated, said Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng. Lim claimed there could be elements of corruption and fraud in the land sale, implicating former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He called on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) to investigate the matter.
Following a meeting with Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa on Thursday, Lim said it was confirmed that the 32.37ha land owned by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Office was sold to the two companies at the request of Najib, without an open tender.
“This pond is an important infrastructure for flood mitigation in the north part of the city. The authorities must ensure that the project will not jeopordise the flood mitigation feature,” he said.
Lim was reported to say that the 35.2ha piece of land was sold at RM68 per square feet on Nov 20, 2015, when the market value then was at least RM250 sq ft.
The land was then sold by the two Umno-linked companies to a Sarawak-based developer Perdana Park City Sdn Bhd.
It was reported in April this year that Perdana Park was collaborating with China-based Country Garden Holdings Co Ltd for mixed use commercial development on the land consisting of a hotel, offices, parking, shopping mall, connectivity and apartments.
