Police yesterday detained the husband of a local television drama actress to facilitate investigation into the alleged GWGFX foreign exchange (forex) and Bitcoin Bitkingdom scams with losses amounting to RM13.9 million.
A police source said the man was picked up when he came to have his statement recorded at the Anti-Money Laundering Crime Investigation Unit, IGP Secretariat at Menara 238 in Jalan Tun Razak here at about noon.
“The remand application will be made tomorrow,” he said when contacted here.
Meanwhile, the unit’s chief, Datuk Khalil Azlan Chik confirmed the arrest when contacted.
On May 14, police detained the 35-year-old owner of a movie production company with the honorific title ‘Datuk’ in connection with the same case.
