DAP Top Ramadan Bazaar Bullshitter

Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun said today the only reason he issued a letter of support for a PPBM Youth member was because he wanted to help traders who didn’t have a licence to set up stalls at the Ramadan bazaar at Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur.
He denied receiving money from the rental of the lots from the traders. Furthermore, he said, it was Kuala Lumpur City Hall that had the final say in issuing trading licences.
“I will not tolerate any form of misappropriation,” he said in a statement today.

He said he issued the support letter on the condition that no rental charges were imposed by anyone other than City Hall.
Fong was explaining his side of the story after City Hall’s Licensing and Petty Traders Development Department director Anwar Mohd Zain was quoted by The Star on June 14 as saying he reversed his decision to reject Noorhisyam’s application for the lots after receiving Fong’s letter of support.
Noorhisyam has been accused of misusing his political connections to secure 80 bazaar lots and renting them out for as high as RM5,000 per lot.
Fong said he had contacted the traders to get an explanation, and asked those with information on the matter to contact him or file police reports. He also said he would lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if he found evidence to support the allegations.
