Giant Malaysia has not issued any messages giving customers a free $500 shopping voucher to celebrate its 74th anniversary.
The message which is making its rounds on social chat applications such as WhatsApp, uses the hypermarket's name and comes with a link for users to click on.
"We have received numerous feedback and inquiries from our customers as well as the public with regards to a circulated WhatsApp message scam using Giant's name," Giant said in a statement.
The hypermarket chain said the message is untrue and is not by Giant Malaysia.
They urge members of the public to not click on the link as it may be harmful.
