But if a situation arises where the boss is not doing any good for the company for a prolonged period of time, then someone does need to raise their voice. As someone has said, an organization is a living organism and every action affects the whole system. Same way if the leader himself is at fault then the whole organization suffers.
"The supreme irony of business management is that it is far easier for an inadequate CEO to keep his job than it is for an inadequate subordinate. A CEO who doesn't perform is frequently carried indefinitely. One reason is that performance standards for his job seldom exists.
Another important, but seldom recognized, the distinction between the boss and the foot soldier is that the CEO has no immediate superior whose performance itself is getting measured.
Finally, relations between the Board and the CEO are expected to be congenial. At Board meetings, criticism of the CEO's performance is often viewed as the social equivalent of belching. No such inhibitions restrain the office manager from critically evaluating the substandard typist."
If you notice them carefully, then such bosses have one of the following traits:
Ones Who Are Super Achievers: They consider themselves the smartest person in the room and thus are always overconfident about every notion pitched in the room. They always believe they know it better than anyone else and do not need to listen to or be taught by anyone else below them.
One Who Runs Away From Critical Situations: They are the super avoiders when a crisis happens or when it's the time to come forward and gracefully take the blame for the team. They prefer leaving it to the underlings to see the situation and come up with a solution by themselves.
The Splitters: They have their own team within a team, and are always biased towards certain employees who are often famous as bootlickers in the company. If you are not with them, you are against them and hence the organization suffers.
Proper Bullies: Such kind of bosses are loud and in your face and don't care much about how you may take it personally. They are egoistic and often make people around them less worthy
So what can one do about it? There is no trick or magic pill here that can resolve the situation for you or get rid of such a boss, but as the organizations are growing they are becoming more and more transparent, which allows you to raise your voice.
Every company has board members and if you are smart and strong enough, then you should raise your voice as that will be the right thing which you won't regret eventually.
